Use as a pre-shampoo treatment 1-2 times per week. Part hair at scalp as best as you can. Apply a small amount to damp or wet scalp and gently massage in small circular motions. Rinse well, then shampoo and condition as normal

To be honest I have never used a scalp scrub before as I always thought it would be too rough and damaging on my hair.
I was so wrong!!! After shampooing I still noticed my scalp wasn’t completely clean with a few flakes and build up here and there but this scrub removed so much build up from my scalp and left it feeling so clean and fresh!
The scent is very refreshing and beautiful and I love the packaging.
I find it combination with the shampoo and conditioner this works really well.
So you use this as a pre shampoo treatment

Fresh and full of life hair
Such a great product! I used it in conjuction with the shampoo and conditioner from the same product line. This product definitely reduced build up in my hair and my hair has never felt cleaner. The product lathered really well, smelled great and overall I was impressed!

Deep Clean Scalp Scrub
I feel like my hair has gotten a lot softer over these last couple weeks and I'm noticing it more within this past week. I think it took roughly just over 2 weeks for me to see noticeable results, such as a great reduction in dandruff and my hair looking a lot healthier! What I love most about this scalp scrub is that it has a very fresh and cooling sensation which I crave since I get such an itchy dry scalp. The smell was also quite nice, not too overpowering but enough for my hair to smell nice. My curls look more defined and my hair certainly feels a lot softer. Whether you use hair products or not, scalp and hair follicles will get clogged with dirt and oils! This Salt Scrub is hands down the best part of hair wash!! I thought it would strip my hair colour but found it didn’t which was a great concern.

Great Scalp Scrub!
I really loved the tube shape of this product. It looked very professional. It was well labelled. I could see what the brand was and what the product was very clearly. I agreed with the claims on the bottle how it reduces pollution build up and it increases shine. It's great how it has been dermatogically tested and it's Australian made and owned.
It was very easy to squeeze the product out of the bottle. The scalp scrub was nice and yellow. The consistency of the scalp scrub was just right and it lathered into my hair really well. The scalp scrub scent was beautiful, all the ingredients worked really well together. After using the product in my hair, my hair felt so fresh, clean and hydrated afterwards.
I do have oily hair and the product was suitable for oily hair. My hair felt more dry afterwards and less oily. I had never tried a scalp scrub before and I was very impressed.

Satisfying Product
I had never used a scalp scrub prior to this and I'm glad I tried it. I have a lot of hair so the scalp scrub is not the easiest product to use / wash out, however the results were very satisfying. I was initially worried that my hair would be dry or frizzy from using the scrub, but when paired with the Deep Clean Shampoo and Conditioner, my hair (& scalp) looked and felt so healthy. I initially received this product from A'Kin to review, however I will continue to purchase.

Refreshing scalp scrub
I have a lot of dandruff so having a scalp scrub gets rid of that dead skin so well! It smells very nice and relaxing. It's feels almost like a facial scrub except for the scalp. If you have thick long hair, it maybe a bit difficult to get close to the scalp to scrub.

Love the concept but difficult to use on long hair
I really like the smell and the concept of this scalp scrub. It's the first scalp scrub I've ever used. However with my really long head of (+ a lot of) hair, I found it difficult to apply the product evenly across my scalp, and rather only really managed to get it in small areas with my fingers as my hair doesn't easily part while wet in the shower. The second difficulty I had was rinsing the scrub out completely. I had to use my handheld shower head to get right up into my scalp however I still noticed when I was drying my hair that I had little bits of leftover product that I wasn't able to remove. My husband however found the product easy to use and wash out with his short hair. The scrub did clean my scalp and in happy with the exfoliation and increased blood flow to my scalp from using this however it requires a lot of effort to use to ensure you're applying enough and rinsing it all out which is why I've given 4 stars instead of 5. I was gifted a sample to trial and review.

Like a Spa Treatment!
Love the natural looking bottle first of all, then the gentle natural fragrance is so pretty.
I've never used a hair scrub before and although it felt a bit thick and odd at first, once I added some water the mixture was easier to rub into my scalp. You could feel the product build up being gently sloughed away with this gentle although effective scrub. It felt like a special spa treatment!
I'm not sure it reduced the oil after use but I'm not sure anything can with my hair lol.

Great for itchy scalp build up
Over the years I’ve tried many scalp scrubs, often leading to disappointment. Hence my expectation was very low when I tried this, the scrub itself is salt based and fine so it actually stays on scalp to do its job. Not very aggressive on scalp skin but still does a fine job. Another thing I had noticed with salt scrubs left my hair dry, again not with Akin. And easy to wash off the scalp as well. If you have itchy, flaky scalp like mine this helped! Pleasantly surprised
I have an oily scalp that also has some dry flakes, but not dandruff. I hadn't used a scalp scrub prior to trying this one and I was pleasantly surprised! It does take some getting used to, as it feels very gritty and strange getting it into your scalp. BUT I did find a reduction in flakiness and it did definitely help with my greasy looking hair and product build up. You do need to double shampoo after using this to get all the grit out. I found once a week use was good for me. Overall happy customer!

Refreshing and smells great
An amazing deep clean scrub with a soft botanical scent. The Akin deep clean scrub left my hair and scalp feeling really clean. It is easy to use and get the perfect amount each time. Good for sometimes use
I have been using this Scrub for a few weeks now. Im not a real fan of scrubs as I think it takes a long time to wash your hair- an added step. I would use this every second wash. The fragrance is fresh and my hair scalp feels clean after using it. Its easy to dispense and apply. It does exfoliate your scalp 😊 received this product from A'Kin to review

Cleans scalp and not oily!
I don't usually use scalp scrubs as I find it to be fiddly and a little messy. Initial thoughts is that I loved the smell. Upon application, my scalp did feel softer and my hair didn't feel as oily. 4 stars as it is probably something I would not continue using, but would recommend for someone that would like to use a scalp scrub. ok so heres the thing. i had never used a manual physical expholiant on my scalp before but LOVED the idea of it as i love them elsewhere on my body so why not on my scalp right? well listen, this is by no means the fault of the product as its actually a very nice scrub but ive discovered that i dont like all that grit all up in my hair. i aint about it. so ive used the scrub elsewhere on my body, legs and feet mainly and its great haha! it does wash out of your hair well if you make sure to rince properly so there was no issues there, i think its just s sensory thing for me!

Great scalp scrub with a wonderful fresh scent. I use this about once a week for a deep scalp clean. my scalp felt fresh and hair was not dry. I don't have dandruff, so I can't speak on if it helps with that

Lots to love
So much to love with this product. It’s vegan and Australian made! Which is amazing. The smell of this product is lovely. Such a beautiful fruity aroma which blended nice with the shampoo and conditioner. I did have a hard to wrapping my head around using a scalp cleanser. I felt like it should be going on my face and not my hair. But this may just be a personal opinion. So I didn’t use it very much.

Left my scalp feeling cleansed.
Product is okay, but parts are average.
I used this as part of a gifted set with the conditioner and shampoo to review.
I would purchase it if it was on sale because my scalp did feel clean and my hair lasted a few days without needing a wash. I usually get a big dandruff and oil build up.
I used the cleanser then the shampoo and conditioner and this definitely gave me a very thorough clean.
I will say that both the cleanser and shampoo are really quite drying so using a very hydrating conditioner and then hydrating product post shower was very important.
I wouldn’t use this product every wash, maybe every two or three washes. I used a small amount and rubbed it through my scalp. It is not foaming at all and has small bead style things to exfoliate the scalp. It was difficult to wash out but I got most of it out when I was rinsing my shampoo. It isn’t a product that you should rub harshly as it could damage your scalp. Just a gentle motion (I am used to a harsher scrub to ensure I get rid of product/oil/dandruff build up).
This product lost points with me due to the packaging. It had a seal under a screw cap lid but it was like a tube with a large opening. This made of difficult to control the amount of product coming out and it made it hard to screw the cap back on while holding the product. Other similar products I have used previously had a cap lid that just snapped open and shut over the screw top. It frustrated me. It’s a decent enough exfoliating/deep cleansing product for its price point but I would only purchase it if it was on sale.

I loved the idea of this as I get flakes after normal wash. However the beads were really hard to work in and even harder to wash out. It's a great concept and would be better if it wasn't in the bead form.

Don't love
I honestly had such high hopes for this. I have a flaky scalp and do use some products and had been keen to try this. I found it just left the scrubbing agent (salt like product) in my hair that was hard to clear out even with shampooing twice and conditioning. It was difficult to get to the scalp and stuck everywhere but. It doesn't go far either, so it seems a lot is needed to clean properly. I did use on my husband who's head is partially shaved as an exfoliant prior to shaving, but he wasn't a fan either.

I was gifted this product to try in exchange for my opinion.
I like the idea of a scrub for my scalp and it somewhat felt nice to use but it was really hard to wash out with my long hair and I found it kept appearing elsewhere like my pillow or left in my scalp which made my scalp itchy and uncomfortable.

Scalp scrubs are newer to me so I have only tried a few other types that I can compare to. Personally, I didn't like this one. I found the consistency to be more sand like and it took a lot of rinsing to get it out of my hair. I also didn't find it to do a lot for me, I would prefer a formula which is more like a body scrub texture with bigger granules. The smell is quite nice and the easy to squeeze tube but that's about it for me. I was gifted a product sample to trial and review.

Wasn’t a big fan of this, it takes a long time and a really good rinse to get all the sand feeling off your scalp and out of your hair. I feel you need to use a lot to get it through to the scalp all over.

I recently had the opportunity to trial and review the new range of A'Kin Deep Clean hair care products.
I was pleasantly surprised to find the range was sulphate and silicone free, and contained Australian botanicals. It was also a bonus to find the products are Australian made, from an Australian owned company.
The Deep Clean Scalp Scrub claims to offer

Proven to exfoliate and balance scalp after one wash*"
I don't tend to suffer with product build up, apart from the rare instance I use dry shampoo, so I didn't really need to use the scalp scrub. I can see the benefit for people who regularly use a lot of hair product for me, but personally I found it annoying to use. I have very thick hair, so it was difficult to get the product evenly distributed on to my scalp. When I did, it felt like I was rubbing wet sand in to my scalp, and was just as difficult to rinse out. I had to shampoo twice with an excessive amount of shampoo just to remove all the grit from my hair. I won't be using this myself, but will find someone with thinner hair/more product build up to gift it to.

Got caught in hair, don’t recommend
I really love the concept of this product but I did not enjoy the experience while using. I found the product got really badly caught in the strands of my hair so I couldn’t properly apply it to my scalp to exfoliate. I tried this on different occasions with hair that was slightly damp and again when it was really wet and I didn’t notice a difference. After thoroughly washing my hair after I still noticed the exfoliating beads that were caught. The bottle was very easy to use and I loved the smell of it but just didn’t enjoy using.
